Evening Culinary Experience in Rimetea

Looking for a romantic dinner in the countryside? A unique setting for a casual meeting? Or simply a taste of authentic Transylvanian cuisine? Join us for an unforgettable evening in the heart of the Apuseni Mountains.

After crossing the Romanian border, the Carpathian Mountains spread in three major chains, bearing the name of their spatial positioning: East, South and West.

The Western Carpathians, also known as Apuseni Mountains (the Romanian name for ‘Mountains of the Setting Sun’) are the shortest of the Carpathians. The limestone based structure of the Apuseni Mountains led to the formation of hundreds of caves in the area. Being short and hollow like a Swiss cheese, the Apuseni Mountains have the two major features that make them suitable for a varied range of walking and adventure holidays.

What truly sets this region apart is the blend of rich biodiversity, dramatic karst formations and the preserved lifestyle of the mountain communities. Adding to its appeal, the area also offers a Transylvanian culinary experience – chance to savour traditional dishes in authentic rural settings, surrounded by breath-taking scenery and warm local hospitality.

Tour Plan

A Transylvanian dinner experience

Depart from Cluj at 5 p.m. for a scenic transfer to the Apuseni Mountains and the charming village of Rimetea (known as Torocko in Hungarian). During the Middle Ages, the village prospered due to iron ore mining and production. However, Rimetea also faced hardship, requiring significant reconstruction. Discover the fascinating story of its rise and fall as you stroll through its historic streets and admire the distinctive white houses that characterize the village.

Next, embark on a Transylvanian culinary experience in a nearby village, where a delightful dinner awaits at a charming manor house restaurant. Savor the best of traditional Transylvanian cuisine while enjoying stunning mountain views and warm hospitality. A complimentary bottle of Romanian wine and a platter of local cheeses will be our treat.

We’ll return to Cluj later in the evening, carrying with us memories of a unique cultural and culinary journey in Transylvania.
